Drop + Dickies
Drop + Velva Sheen
As Creative Director, I partnered with Drop Studio, Drop’s in-house product development team for Drop's exclusive raw denim collection, featuring premium fabric from Yoshima Mills in Japan. This role required orchestrating every aspect of the creative process—from initial concept development and material sourcing to final product execution—ensuring each detail met Drop's exacting standards for craftsmanship and authenticity.
I traveled to the Los Angeles garment district to immerse myself in the traditional process of how jeans are made, gaining firsthand knowledge of the manufacturing workflow. There, I collaborated directly with the jeans designer to finalize the creative direction, carefully selecting zippers and perfecting the branding elements on both the back label and garment tags. We refined every detail until we locked in the final jean prototype for manufacturing, ensuring the product honored both the heritage of Japanese denim and Drop's commitment to quality.
This project was about more than just designing jeans—it was about understanding the craft at every level, from mill to market, and translating that knowledge into a product that felt authentic and meticulously considered at every touchpoint.
